Opening + Feature in Sun Sentinel

Posted  ●  March 17th, 2012
TV-PG, my new solo show, opens tonight 1310 Gallery after the VIP viewing last night. Read the Sun Sentinel review (upper right corner on the front page and 4A!). Here's an excerpt:

"instead of Bob Barker, there are body parts, human organs, sock puppets and medical accessories such as pills, a syringe and a bedpan. Morey explores the way people demonize and embrace modern medicine, as well as "the way we self-medicate — and not necessarily with pills or drugs, but with TV, food and sex."
Imaginary Friends + TV-PG

Posted  ●  February 25th, 2012
My solo show is opening at 1310 Gallery on March 17th as part of Imaginary Friends: three solo shows by myself, JC Bravo and Paul Caprio. My show, TV-PG is an accretion of multimedia work spanning 2008 to 2012 including drawings, paintings, sculptures, videos, and an interactive installation. Look out for a feature in the Sun Sentinel and, if you can't make it to the opening, look forward to the closing on April 13th.

Review in FL New Times

Posted  ●  October 5th, 2011
NewTimes' review of Humoratorium contains a shot of "Everything Must Go", one of three of new drawings featured in the show, and an explanation of "Master's Hands", which is also featured in the exhibition.

"... be warned: A few of the pieces are about as whimsical as tattered, blood-stained dolls in the attic of an abandoned mansion. Florida native Benjamin Morey has contributed a painting of two reptilian, Pepto Bismol-pink hands that look like they might be those of the clown from "It" after he's stripped off his white gloves."

Friend and curator Lisa Rockford has asked me to show three new drawings and a painting in her upcoming exhibition at the 1310 Gallery as a "featured" artist. I was also given the opportunity to design the promotional materials (including postcards and web blasts) for the show which opens October 1st and closes after Art Fallout.
